Konami and Sony have an early Christmas present for gamers, with Konami announcing today that its seminal RPG Suikoden is now available (or will be soon, as of press time it's not yet available) on the PlayStation Network for just $5.99 for both PS3 and PSP. Suikoden is one of the finest RPGs ever, with an intricate storyline that has players seeking out the 108 Stars of Destiny while trying to save the Scarlet Moon Empire. It also features appealing 2D artwork (pictured) and an excellent soundtrack.
It's certainly one of my favorite RPGs ever, as I originally purchased it in early 1997 to pass the time until Final Fantasy VII, and discovered one of the most unique RPGs ever that in many ways surpasses Square's epic. To date, it has spawned four sequels and (in addition to several titles that never made it out of Japan) next year's Nintendo DS title Suikoden: Tierkreis.
At just $5.99 Suikoden should be a tremendous value with over 20 hours of RPG goodness, especially since the original disc runs at least $25 USD for a decent copy on eBay.
