Has Sony’s biggest weapon already been fired?
According to a poster in the DVD Talk forums, the Circuit City circular for the week of 7/15 through 7/21 (aka the week after next week's E3) lists the 60GB PS3 for $499 alongside NCAA Football 08 for the system. Since the system retails for $599 this would obviously mean that we'll see a price drop at E3, unless of course this is simply a one week sale at Circuit City only in an attempt to move languishing hardware.
Of course, a price drop has been rumored for quite some time, with most analysts expecting a drop by the end of the year, so this would be a logical move for Sony if the company chooses to make it. We should find out next week for sure though.
